Back in September, when American Girl relaunched the Truly Me line with new dolls, several dolls were brought along with it, but with added face makeup. It's been a few months, though, and I have not seen collages representing the seven dolls - 100, 102, 103, 106, 107, 108 and 111- with their old Truly Me counterparts. I had some time to kill today, though, so I made the collages!
100 and 27
103 and 61
102 and 33
106 and 85
107 and 68
108 and 82
111 and 84
They don't look older to me. They look "finished" now and not as "empty" in that region. I'm sorry but I think that it's ridiculous to think that long eye lashes automatically mean that it's make-up. The boys should have them too, so maybe people will chill out with calling it make-up. That thin row of eyelashes at the top looked fine before but now it shows that it really wasn't, at least for me. People are writing in the comments that the color seems different but it's really not. It's actually the eyelashes - they are adding the depth to their faces and the rest of the face pait stands out more, making it easier to photograph. Now they…
I have JLY 27, JLY 30, JLY 90, and JLY 84, but for the new truly me line, I have TM 105.
I feel like the new ones have better vibrant color pallets, even if only slightly different, and their faces are slimmer and longer too which I think is fine but yes it does make them seem older, possibly for the older market? girls who like us grew up?
they all look so different - the new dolls look so much older, like middle or high schoolers rather than elementary schoolers. the only ones that are immediately identifiable as the same doll are 108/82 and 106/85, the others looks so different
I think most of the modified versions are better.
