American Girl put 2 new Smart Girl's Guides on pre-order on Amazon today for a February 15 release. This could likely be the next AG item release date, but once I tell you what these books are about, I'll look into it more!
The first book is written by Erin Falligant, who wrote Joss's book series. It is titled "A Smart Girl's Guide: Tough Stuff":
"Life is full of tough stuff -- from bullying to body image issues, friendship stress to family struggles, panic attacks to pandemics. This book shows girls how to get through tricky times and come out on the other side even stronger. It provides tons of tips on how to bounce back and find enough resilience -- a real-life skill that can be learned -- to withstand the toughest challenges. In these pages, girls will find ideas on dealing with specific challenges and can read quotes from girls who've been there. Resilient girls face their hardest days head-on, look for the positives, and recover from disappointments. This book shows the way!"
I need this book in my life, even though I'll be 17 when it releases. Too much tough stuff has happened to me over the past two years!
The second book is written by Mel Hammond, who wrote "Love the Earth" and "Pets" (and who I interviewed back in July!), and is titled "A Smart Girl's Guide: Body Image".
"Every girl needs to learn to live comfortably in her own skin, and this book will show the way! In these pages, a girl will find everything she needs to know about loving her unique self, staying confident through her body's many changes, and appreciating her body for the life it lets her live. Full of activities, tips, crafts, and real-girl stories, this book is a feel-good reminder that all bodies are worthy of love and respect."
Tons of girls will benefit from this book, so I'm glad AG's making it!
February 15 is a Tuesday. AG tends to release stuff on Tuesdays or Thursdays, so a February 15 release makes sense. (It's also the day after I get home from a Disney World vacation, so it'll make post-trip sadness more bearable!)
I can't wait for the new release and to check out these new books!
Have fun in Disney world! We had to cancel our annual Disney world family reunion. We would have been going in a few weeks but it is ok since I am going for my birthday which is in March.
Those books sound like great additions to the series! @Admin Also, Im actually going to Disney World in April! Ive never been, just to Disney Land. Im so excited!
I really could've used the "A Smart Girl's Guide: Body Image" book twenty years ago. Heck, make it twenty-five.
I love the Smart Girl's Guide book series and these new releases are so important! Personally, I struggled with my body image starting at age 7 (and I still do) so, the body image book is really important to me. Fortunately, girls today will have this book in their lives! Also, I'm so jelly that you're going to Disney World! It sounds soooo fun!!!
