New American Girl Claudie Step into Reading Book - Claudie Finds Her Talent

While Claudie's second book is finally coming out after a ten-month wait in just a handful of days, the Step into Reading series announced a picture book adaptation of Claudie's story - Claudie Finds Her Talent! The book is 32 pages and will be released on January 2, 2024.

"American Girl® Claudie™ discovers her true talent in this all-new Step 3 Step into Reading leveled reader that takes place in 1922 during the Harlem Renaissance!

Meet Claudie Wells. She is 9 years old and is surrounded by artists, writers, dancers, and the culture of the Harlem Renaissance during 1922. Everyone seems to be good at something, but Claudie can’t find her special talent. Claudie’s story will engage today’s readers as they learn what it was like to be a girl during that time in history. This Step 3 Step into Reading leveled reader is great for American Girl fans ages 5 to 8, and is based on an American Girl story by Brit Bennett."

It makes me so happy to see Claudie get attention. Her books thus far (although I guess technically right now it's just 'book' singular) mean so much to me. Like, I don't know how I can even explain how important she is to me without being super emotional. I love that they're giving her a Step into Reading Book, because that means younger readers can connect to Claudie the way I did. I'm SO excited for her to (hopefully) get more of a collection, even though I'm currently saving for something really big and probably won't be able to get any of it until my birthday.

if i were on the advisory board i would absolutely defend Claudie's position in the historical line! her story and collection are just as important as any other! i'm so glad i was able to put your fears at ease for her. like i said i could always be wrong, i won't say i can predict what will happen, but i am very hopeful. i love Claudie and i think…

Generally speaking that’s true about blue-eyed blonde dolls (although they’re not my personal favorites because there are just so many and always have been from most companies—I tend toward the less common dolls in my collection, though I do have a few blondes and redheads for variety). I read somewhere that many people found her era and story less interesting than that of many other characters. I liked the colors of her collection and the delicate decor of her parlor set.

Public opinion can be a hard thing to gauge even for big companies with market research teams. Often the best planned swings result in a huge miss inexplicably. I was just as baffled about Cécile and Marie-Grace. The…
