American Girl's sales were down 17% in the fourth quarter of 2022. For the overall year, sales were down 16%. This was reportedly due to the lack of sales of Corinne and the Historical Character dolls.
How do you guys think AG should be promoting their character dolls? They need more focus in the line and better promotion, as well as more and higher-quality content tied to the dolls.
I don't understand comments being rude about young kids having them, the point of the post is to encourage ways of improve of sales.. cutting off an age is not going to help but make it worse by limiting buyers.. but luckily parents still make the ultimate decisions lol my kid in fact mostly had her early dolls (started at 2 years old) in their original boxes for a few years and extremely cared for, but those that chose to let their kids loose with them kudos on them for letting kids be kids and if anything helping the company a lot lol AG ultimately doesn't care what you do after check out. It's not like they sell out o…
A note on prices…
Are they outrageous and not attainable for most families? Yes. However we need to keep in mind this was always their history.
In 1986 Kirsten's School Dress with Shawl was $20, out that in an inflation calculator and that would be $53.40 today. Molly’s™ Plaid School Outfit today is only $38 comparatively. Cheaper quality, but also less expensive.
I think they need to nix half their stuff and focus on storytelling again.
They need to put more work back into the historical line. We need well researched, historically accurate clothing and accessories. We also need books like they used to write where we get the meet story, birthday story, holiday story, etc.
It’s cuz they were too busy promoting dolls that a lot of people already had.
That sucks... does this mean that American Girl is ending?
