i think the colored hair on the dogs looks more like a wig than real hair that was dyed I do know that their hair is a wig but the natural hair colors looks more not like a wig did that even make sense? I

I think the wig swapping from other sellers is probably another reason AG started making colored hair dolls because instead of buying a pink wig from Etsy you can just buy a doll with pink hair already (which also means more money for AG) especially with parents who might have a kid who wants an AG doll with ombré blue hair, instead of having to go through the troubles of swapping a wig they can just buy one with that specific hair color already. But is annoying that they keep getting rid of natural AG dolls. It would be cool if they had a specific line of dolls that came with different colors of hair or eyes or even light makeup

I think the dolls with colored hair kind of cool. There are plenty of people with hair dyed an unnatural color, so in a way it is kind of more representation? Just not the kind most people have been asking for. While they may not necessarily look like many kids in the target audience, they definitely look like some older kids, think teens. For example, my hair is bright pink like TM #87. I have a friend who has had purple hair, blue hair, and pink hair before, all of which are hair colors of the newer Truly Me dolls. Although in terms of the target audience, I think they are making these dolls because more colors in the dolls hair could appeal to younger kids more. While I see more and more younger kids getting their hair dyed these colors, it is not THAT common. There is also the issue of general opinions on unnaturally dyed hair. Personally, I love hair that is dyed an unnatural color, and in terms of dolls, I tend to gravitate towards more colorful and unrealistic doll lines (I was an avid Monster High fan when I was in elementary school and I collect Rainbow High currently).

However, I wish they would make more natural hair dolls along with them. It feels like AG is just retiring natural hair TM dolls and replacing them with unnatural hair ones. The unnatural hair dolls should not be a replacement, they should be an addition. I also do not like how it takes a bit of the value away from customizing your dolls to have unnaturally colored hair. Before, having a doll with pink or purple hair made your doll special and unique because you spent the time to wigswap the doll. Now you can just get one from American Girl. I had recently wigswapped a doll for the first time when the first Truly Me dolls with colored hair came out, and I kind of felt a bit bummed and like my doll was not special anymore. Do not get me wrong, wigswapped dolls are still really cool and every custom American Girl doll is unique, but I am sure I am not the only one who felt the way I felt when they came out, Overall do not love the colored hair Truly Me dolls, but I do not necessarily hate them either. They just exist for me. American Girl really needs to chill out on making more of them though.

I honestly haven’t payed that much attention to it. If I want a doll specifically for the colored hair, I’d get a doll based on all the other features, and then just buy a wig off Etsy. There are some really great shop with many styles of excellent quality wigs, maybe even better than AG. I’d be cool if AG made a special line called rainbow dolls, where all the dolls had fun colored outfits, makeup, nails, eyes, and hair. But AG would really have to step up their game for that to sell, since currently I’d choose Etsy and the work of customizing my doll myself over one of their tm colored hair dolls in a heartbeat.

eh they're fine, but I sorta wish Ag could stop producing them. Ever since I entered the world of Ag, they've been making so many of them. tho, I do like #89's tank top.

In my personal opinion, I sorta hate them! 0 girls in the world look like them, there hair color is sooo unrealistic, there hair looks bad in almost every hairstyle! But... the one with the green and blue camo is the best one.

I prefer natural hair colors. I think they have lots of room to expand their blonds and reds. I'd actually like to see a grey or white hair doll that could be used as a grandma.... it would be so much fun, although I can just make a custom. There probably wouldn't be much of a market for a grandma doll. I remember on Doll Days when she still had her website up, she had photoshopped one of her dolls with grey hair for the grandma in the story, and it was so epic.

Yes, I feel that the regular truly mes are dying out and now, AG will be releasing colored hair ones. Ag is taking the me out of Truly Me! The line now should be called Truly Rainbow or Truly Colorful.

I actually don’t mind the colored hair truly me’s mostly bc I don’t really pay much attention to that line at all, but I think it would look nicer or a little more natural if they put like blond or brown roots with the colored hair. And ombré hair colors would look really pretty as well.

It started out nicely. Only a few dolls had colored hair. But now it’s every Truly Me, and it’s getting on my nerves.
