I know right!! When #88 first came out, I wanted her SOO BAD!! I was around 10 I believe. I almost ended up getting her but did not due to the fact that her hair was really thin, she is a classic mold with light skin and blue eyes when this was one of the many chances Ag got to make a more diverse doll, and I have seen so many ratty 88s in the bedrooms of six-year-olds. And also, to continue my rant, they also retired #86, which was my favorite colored hair doll other than 89. :( weird too, since she was so popular. But anyways, I think having all of the colored hair dolls when Ag could be making more DOCs is less than ideal. Then theres the fact that theyre doing it because a seven year old will look at it and say, "she's pretty. I want HER." lol... sorry...

Unfortunately, kids have been dying their hair at young ages lately. However, I think that the colored hair dolls are ridiculous. I understand dolls like TM #88, but having tons of them just looks junky. Also, I think American Girl has been more focused on the Truly Me line lately. I really miss the days where AG payed attention to their Historicals...

I feel like the reason they keep making more truly me dolls with unnatural colored hair because dying your hair such colors has been becoming more popular. Kids have also been getting their hair dyed at younger ages than I had seen before. So they needed more dolls like that to reflect the trend. Also, if I were younger, I would totally see the pink haired doll and think “Woah! That’s the best one! I love pink!”. In a way, some kids might find the dolls with colored hair cooler?

However, I do think it is kind of dumb how they keep retiring Truly Me dolls and replacing them with the colored hair dolls. Retiring Truly Me dolls always seemed kind of weird to me because they were advertised as being your look alike, so why would you retire that? Does the doll just not look like anyone anymore? Does no one wear bangs anymore? They got rid of all the Truly Me dolls with bangs.

I feel like they probably want parents to buy the CYOs instead they are more expensive and if they make less TMs, parents will need to get a CYO for a doll that looks like their child.

I really hope that the new ones do not have colored hair there are a lot more natural hair colors they need to do there is more shades than black brown blonde platinum and red. Also I hope they add ombere hair and new eye colors I think that the hazel eyes they have are not really hazel Because they don’t have brown in them as well also two different colored eyes would look really cool and add more representation

Honestly, I think that doll lookalikes have a very limited target. They only have 2 TM genders, and now people are more biracial. Also, it Doesn’t have as much appeal to parents
