The Cartoon Network executive recently said something really sexist about animation and live action.
"Girls often graduate out of animation, that's why we're making more single and multi-cam live-action movies to target towards the girls without alienating the boys." (I may not have gotten that completely correct, but it's incredibly close to his statement.)
Okay, so basically,
CORINNE IS BEING MADE IN LIVE-ACTION BECAUSE CARTOON NETWORK THINKS THAT GIRLS DON'T LIKE ANIMATION.
This is absolutely ridiculous and I hope that American Girl notices what Cartoon Network is truly doing with the new Corinne film. I was excited, but I'm scared that CN is going to lead American Girl into something much worse for what they wanted this movie to by made for.
I am disappointed though. The new leadership at Cartoon Network has been very conservative. I am a fan of Infinity Train, which is an EXTREMELY good show on Cartoon Network and HBO Max, but it got cancelled halfway through the show because these executives didn’t think it had a “child entry point” because one of the seasons (it’s an anthology, meaning each season follows a different character) was going to focus on an adult woman. Said adult woman was a character who’s been in Infinity Train since the first season and who’s backstory the fans of the show have been waiting for forever. That just shows how pretentious the executives are. They don’t understand viewers at all- just stereotypes.
