I get why they retire the GOTYs. The exclusive availability has always been a selling point for them, and I get that. The historicals, however, I really hate that they've retired dolls that bring so much representation to the line. I'm glad they don't really do that anymore and I'm even more glad that they're starting to re-release stuff and prioritize diversity more.

I do not think It is fair that they discontinue American girl dolls for like example SAIGE they don't sell her anymore only the DVD. for like new generations they won't be able to have the doll

they also need to let out a black GOTY doll as they only let out one but her year wasn't very good. I wasn't into AG when Gabriella came out but I hear people were upset with her branding. saying that she was just reused truly me. I hate that Ag have not given a Afircan-American GOTY a another try. it's sad but hopefully it will happen soon.

I think it's fine for them to discontinue GOTY dolls. Every girl of the year has her time to retire. But it's more sadder for non Girl of the years. Epecially Historicls. I wish Historicals would never retire. But AG(most of the times) has to do it to introduce more charcthers. I really don't like what they did in 2014. 2014 is legit the worst year in American girl's history. Ivy, Cecile, Marie-grace, Ruthie, gone. I can't imagine who it would feel to be an AG fan at that time period. I was 2 going on 3 when that happend but if i was old enough i would surely sue AG. It really took away a lot of their diverseity. Cecile was black, and Ivy was Chinese. Them being retired was absolutely horrible because 1: Retiring Cecile means that Addy would be the only African American Historical left, and Addy is a bit controversal for being an ex slave. It was so amazing, after 25 years, for African american girls to look up to an Black American girl who is living in the 1850's and not a slave, or even a ex slave. And 2: Ivy was the only Asian doll at the time and therefore Asian American girls could no longer get a named doll that looked like them. Retiring Ivy was a big mistake. Asian American girls no longer feel represented in the Historical line unless they have Hawaiian ancserty. (Yes, I'm talking about you Nanea.) With Corrine and WBU retiring it feels like the same thing is happening AGAIN! And 2014 happened a decade ago. Now four dolls are retireing again. It feels the same, epecially GOTY 2014 was white and boring, too, Like Lila.
