I wrote this two months ago...
Elliot (ok, after writing evermore, I feel the need to start every story stating which characters perspective we're going from)
oh, if you don't know Elliot, brief description: Harry Potter geek who knows too much about curling irons and watches hsmtmts on repeat.
He walked in through the front door, stopped, and looked around, taking in his new home. "Hi."
Seth was talking to me, I guess I was the only one in the room to talk to though.
"Hi." Yeah, nice going Ellie, since hi is so cool.
"Hi." He said again. If he had hearing loss maybe I wouldn't have to talk to him. "You're Elliot, right?"
Rats. No such luck.
"Yeah, that's me. Elliot. You can call me Ellie if you want though."
Can we take the time now to mention I had taken a shower fifteen minutes ago and my hair was still dripping down the back of my yellow hoodie. Yellow is not my color. And I was wearing checked pajama pants. And I had my glasses on, cause you can't exactly sleep in contacts. And to top it all off I couldn't for the life of me think of anything to say. Oh. And I was holding the microwaveable stuffed bear I'd gotten for Christmas that makes me seem like a five year old. Real smooth Ellie.
"Ok Ellie."
Seth called me Ellie. Eeeeeek.
"I'm Seth by the way."
"I know," I said automatically. Ellieeeeeee! That sounded rude! ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Akward silence *clap clap clapclapclap*
He turned around and closed the door that was still open. He faltered at the Christmas tree we still had up (that's what happens when Saylor's gone...), then smiled. He turned back to me, then looked at the counter, then just over my left shoulder. He shifted his gu- wait, his guitar? He plays guitar?
"I was just gonna-"I started, turning back to the microwave, just as Seth said, "yeah, hey, do you-"
We both stopped mid-sentence.
We looked back at each other, then at the floor again.
*more award silence*
Seth finally took a breath. "My mom used to say it's only awkward if you make it awkward." He regained eye contact.
I took a deep breath too.
"Ok then, let's start over. Hi, I'm Elliot Rayne Ambrose, but you can call me Ellie if you want."
"Hi Ellie. I'm Seth Henry Medina, happy very late Christmas and Valentines day, and I have a bear like that," he pointed at the stuffed animal still hanging limply from my hand.
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, it's name is Snuffeluffagus, you know, like the elephant thing on Sesame Street?"
I smiled, he smiled back. "I'm pretty sure it was a mammoth, and this is Sir Arnold McFluff. Lily named him."
"Hello Sir Arnold," he saluted the bear.
I laughed, "Hello Seth," I said in a stuffed bear voice, because, yes, that is most definitely a thing.
"Well, I hope Ellie doesn't think I'm too crazy."
To the bear, not to me, just to be clear.
"You're not weird at all, and you haven't seen crazy till you've met the rest of the family," I said, as me that time, not the bear.
"Oh, what were you going to ask me earlier?"
"Oh, I forget.
"Oh, new question, where am I sleeping?"
"I'll show you, come on," I laughed.
So.... idk, I wanted to share this before Christmas, but I only made Seth... *thinks* wait? two weeks ago? I've had him for two weeks? huh. Guess I don't really have an excuse anymore...
Comment... do you have any snow where you live? We don't right now but we're supposed to get more than we've had in years tonight. *Crosses fingers*
Also, I cross my fingers like the girls in the Parent Trap do, where they cross their fingers on both hands and then cross their arms across their chest
that sentence had a lot of 'cross'es in it
comment: do you cross your fingers like normal people?
