marzitza:
maritza has just moved with her dad, who has been in d.c since she was 2. her family is struggling with money, as they saved up all their money to pay for her and her sisters private school.
bryant:
bryant is confused. he sees poc be bullied for their skin color, and sees his dad say some awful things about the lgbtq+ communit, while he is starting to think he's actually trans. bryant is starting to think "what can i do to help my classmates?"

fahari is the head cheerleader, and vice president of the student council. she is super excited because she's gonna get her first hijab, until she learns she can't wear it for cheerleading! so she and aracely start a petition to allow muslins to wear their hijabs while cheerleading, and even meet some new friends
aracely:
aracely is maritzas younger sister. she sometimes feels like she is trapped in maritzas shadow. so when her new friend, fahari wants to start a petition, she's on board immediately. but when she the school threatens to kick her out of the school, she starts to think "this is my chance to be noticed!" but worries what her parents will think if she does get kicked out.
