Rebecca, perched on her windowsill, was drawing in a notebook. The picture showed her, on a big stage, with people cheering. “Oh, my goodness, Rebecca. You‘re still drawing those?” Victor teased. “Get lost, Victor.” Rebecca retorted, and watched her drawing come to life inside her head. “Becca, you’re six-TEEN,” he groaned, “not six. At your age, you don’t color.” “I’m not coloring, I’m drawing. Leave me alone. And who cares if I was coloring? You can do that at any age.” “Mo-om!“ Victor pretended to call his mother. “Rebecca’s being...”
“Oh, stop it. Get out.” Rebecca grumbled, and tried to return to her daydream, but the story had faded, as had Rebecca’s self esteem. “When I’m a famous actress...” she thought aloud. ”Which you’ll NEVER be,” Victor interrupted. “Oh, my goodness, Victor! You’re still here?” Victor and Rebecca’s arguing was cut short by Sadie, calling their names. “Yes, Sadie?” Rebecca immediately showed up next to her sister. “Sophie and Peter had their baby last week!” She exclaimed.
”What’s their Name?” Rebecca asked excitedly. ”Rebecca Sadie Dunn, goes by Becky.” Sadie replied proudly. “REBECCA got a baby named after HER?” Victor complained. “When they have a boy, let’s have his name be Victor Benjamin,” “Yeah!” Benny cried, running up to his brother. Victor gave him a playful punch on the arm. “And one more thing!” Sadie called. “I’m...I’m...“ The next thing Rebecca knew, Sadie was being rushed to the hospital. She didn’t know why. “Sadie’s not having a baby, is she?” Benny asked, frantically, as he, Rebecca, and Victor chased the doctor’s car. “No, stupid. She’s not married.” Victor grunted. “You’re SURE we should be doing this? Mama and Papa don’t even know, do they?” Rebecca panted, nearly tripping over a crack in the sidewalk. “I left a note!” Benny cried, as a car whizzed past. “Really?” Rebecca replied, quizzically, “Because you’re holding a piece of paper.“
“Aw, shoot. It’s the note!” Benny cried. “That’s it. I’m going back.” Rebecca announced. She started to turn around, but Victor caught her by the shoulder.
“Scaredy-cat,” he taunted. “You know what? I’ll—“ Does Rebecca go home, and tell Mama and Papa what the boys are doing, or does she continue with her brothers to find out what happened to Sadie? It’s your choice! Tell me in the comments! Part two out when there’s at least three answers, and at least two of the same!
I LOVE this story.
