Hey! So I had to retype this ( #bigoop ) on Google Docs and paste it here because of AGDN reloading. Oh what fun. Well, here is part one of Now You See Me, and hopefully you’ll love it as much as you loved Evermore.m
Now You See Me
By Briana H.
Part One
Dare Me?
Jenna’s POV
The room was dark enough that I wouldn't see where I was going, but light enough that I wouldn’t run into anyone or anything.
“Jenna!”
I screamed.
But it was only CJ.
“Camilly June!” I scolded her in a humorous manner. “Rory, lights!”
Rory Walter, one of my two best friends, switched the lights of CJ Mann’s bedroom back on. Hide and seek was what we’d just finished playing.
That was nine years ago. Sure, Camilly June Mann, Rory Grace Walter, and I, Jenna Cassidy Ambrose, were still ourselves, but changes had been made. My twin brother, Jackson, still had anger issues. He’d been taken off his pills recently, which meant his issues were better—unless they got worse. I still had the cut from where he’d stabbed me with the plastic—yet sharp—knife when we were nine. Dr. Shula said to be careful, it may become a real one.
April 2021
THEO_RETICALLYACCURATE: So, Jenna, when will you come meet me?
JENNACASS14: Ah, my parents would never let me
THEO_RETICALLYACCURATE: They’d never know >:]
I’d been online friends with Theodosia McAdams ever since we met online on a website called Chat Sparks. When we were 14, we happened to make an account on the same day. That’s why it’s a 14 in my name and not a 16.
Theo invited me one day to come meet her, yet giving me no clues as to where she lived. I told her I’d think about it.
Ring! Ring, ring! I picked up my phone. CJ was calling. She sounded drowsy and slightly awkward. “H-hey, JeNnA, cOuLd YoU cOmE oVeR oR sOmeThiNg?”
Without thinking, I hung up, stuffed my phone in my pocket, and ran down the hallway. “Where ya going?” Jackson asked.
“CJ’s!” I responded hurriedly, and dashed out the door. I biked the two blocks to CJ’s house on 12 Rhododendron Street and nearly fell off as I ran to the door. I rang the bell and waited anxiously.
“Hi. Uh, hi, Jenna. CJ’s in her room.” 7-year-old Patrick Mann answered the door.
“Thanks, Patrick.” I pushed past him and scurried up the stairs. CJ was lying on her bed. She’d clearly been sweating excessively, as her bed—and she—was soaked.
“Hi JeNnA.” CJ leaned over and gagged. From the unpleasant sound effects, I could tell she’d thrown up.
“CJ! What did you do?” I asked.
“I ate an entire bag of Cadbury Eggs.” CJ moaned.
“And?”
“And then ran three miles.”
“One, where did you get those? Two, you’re super sweaty. And three, why?”
“One, stole ‘em from Patrick. Two, I know that. Three, because I freaking can.”
I stared in disbelief as CJ retched once again. “CJ, I’ve never seen you like this.” I shook my head in exasperation. “Are you okay?”
CJ smiled wryly. “I’m fine. Just need an excuse for the parents.”
“CJ…tomorrow’s the first track meet. You’ve gotta be okay for that.” I grumbled.
“No.” CJ grunted. “I can’t be.” She threw up again and looked at me. Her wavy reddish-brown hair was sticking to her freckled neck.
“CJ-” I started, but she sat up in a hot second.
“Jenna, I’m not going to school tomorrow. Mondays are crud.”
“Speaking of crud, you look like crud. I’m out.” I didn’t bother with the majorly sick CJ as I exited the room slowly.
As I walked out the door, I heard “CJ! Where are my Cadburys?”
When I got home, I debated over whether or not to tell my mom about CJ. I logged onto my CS account and saw that I had one new message from Theo.
THEO_RETICALLYACCURATE: Come see me, Jenna. Meet me on the other side. I dare you.
My response was “so you dare me, huh?”
I had so many questions. What is the other side? How would my parents not know? Why is she offering a dare? Does Theo know what I could be risking?
BRI IS STOPPING YOU THERE. BECAUSE BRI IS EVIL.
Questions!
Is Theo trying to harm Jenna?
What effect will CJ being sick have on the story?
Was Dr. Shula right? Will Jackson try to actually hurt anybody else?
How will Jackson’s issues affect the story?
See ya, peeps. Da Bri,
O U T !
probably
Theo might blackmail Jenna with threats on C.J.'s life
Yes, he will hurt someone
Jenna is worried about him and finds comfort in Theo
