I can't believe she's out! First of all, I'd like to rate each aspect of the doll on a 1-10 system, 1 being the lowest and 10 the highest. So without further ado, let's get into it.
Appearance: 9.5
Corinne is beautiful...her full eyebrows and long eyelashes are great details, and the seafoam green/blue in her hair is a lovely pop of color. The Nanea mold is a nice touch and an interesting alternative to the traditional Jess mold. The reason why I rated Corinne as a 9 instead of a 10 is because I feel that there could have a final detail to tie her appearance together. Something such as freckles, glasses, etc. Overall, Corinne is a beautiful doll and an excellent addition to the Girl of the Year line.
Meet Outfit: 8
The white wool sweater paired with the metallic leggings and winter boots is a great combination. The only thing that I would have done is added a soft accent color, like an ice blue snowflake design for the sweater. Overall, her meet outfit is lovely and looks like something even I would wear.
Story (based on summary): 7.5
It would appear that Corrine's story is action-packed (getting lost on a mountain, etc.) but the divorced parents thing is now almost a trope because of AG's frequent usage of it. I love the fact that Corinne is our first fully Asian GOTY. That's a milestone, and I hope AG makes more of these types of dolls. My only problems with this is that the mountain and dog training themes have been done before with Nicki Fleming, GOTY 2007, and the World by Us dolls mainly dealt with racism along with A Smart Girl's Guide: Race and Inclusion.
As a whole, I feel that Corinne is a great addition to the GOTY line and will be a well-liked doll throughout this year. What do you think? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!
Completely agree, except for divorce parents bc that’s not as common (I think) but Especially on the appearance! I also think it would’ve been cute to put, like, maybe snowflakes on the boots to make it less generic…but hey generic is good!
