Sorry this is a long episode! And that we don't hear from Cassia... I had a section for her, then reread it and decided I didn't like it.

Livia (oops, we haven’t heard from her in a while, heh)

“Livia!!!”

“What?” I bolted up. I definitely hadn’t been sleeping at all. “Oh, it’s just you.” I closed my eyes again.

“Cayla said that Aiden and Joslyn can’t find it, so they’re gonna do a search in her room and then another sweep over the courtyard.”

“That means I don’t have to be awake for another, like, twenty minutes.”

“Cayla said that twenty minutes ago,” Harper informed me.

I heard the window open behind me and footsteps on the roof before I could even turn around.

“Which means they’re here,” Cayla finished. Honestly, why even put locks on doors anymore?

“Livia! Get out of my chair.”

“Did you find it?” Harper asked, much too over-enthusiastically.

“Nope,” Aiden and Joslyn said at the same time.

“Why don’t I ever get to come on missions?” I whined.

“’Cause you can’t even follow rules here.” Joslyn said.

I slid out of the chair.

“Says the person who snuck out of school past curfew.”

“So? We didn’t get caught,” Aiden said.

I rolled my eyes. “But you didn’t find anything either.”

“If we didn’t find it than it wasn’t there.” Aiden is as over-confident as Harper is over-enthusiastic.

“Are you positive you weren’t seen by any students?” Cayla asked.

“Um... that’s a different story,” Aiden looked to Joslyn.

“I might have tried to kidnap a couple of Cassia’s friends.”

“YOU WHAT?” we exploded.

“Well I had to scare them off so we could get into her room somehow.”

“Did you get any of them?”

“No Harper, do you see any Sierras next to us?” Aiden rolled his eyes.

“Oh!” Joslyn reached into her pocket. “We did find this though.”

Elle

“You weren’t serious about driving off a cliff, were you?”

“I thought you said you wouldn’t talk.”

“I said nothing about talking, only screaming. What are you doing?” Cal had pulled over and was unlocking her door.

“Get out.”

I got out ‘cause she looked like she could and would kill me if I didn’t, and she grabbed my arm so I couldn’t run. We walked towards the woods on the side of the road.

“Where are we going?”

“To the cliff.”

“WHAT?”

“The other route is blocked,” she said simply.

“The route to WHERE?”

“Evermore.”

“What’s Evermore?!”

“An alternate reality where your roommate happens to be.”

“And how do you know that?”

“I just do.”

“How?”

“Ellyana, stop talking.”

“Why?”

“No, seriously Elle, get down,” she had cupped her hand over my mouth and pulled me to the ground behind some giant bushes. I thought about biting and then running for it but figured that wouldn’t really get me anywhere because I had no idea where we actually were.

There were footsteps, I could hear them now. They were coming closer, and closer, and closer. And then they stopped.

Cal took her hand away from my mouth and put a finger up to hers ‘shhhhhhhhh.’

Who is it? I mouthed.

Dunno, she mouthed back and shook her head.

Through the bushes I could see the shadow of the person who was walking.

Get ready to run, Cal mouthed. I nodded.

Three, two, one, go! We bolted, I looked back, the man was chasing after us. I had always been terrified of horror movies. Trust me, watching them can’t even compare to living them.

I looked back again, then tripped because I hadn’t been looking at the ground. I got back up and barely even noticed the blood dripping from my leg where I had fallen.

“Cal,” I whispered.

“What!” she snapped.

“He’s not chasing us anymore.” I risked looking back again. Then I tripped again because Cal had stopped running.

“Cal-” I stood up again.

Wow. It would have been beautiful if it hadn’t been so terrifying. The cliff. We had ended up at the cliff.

“Heh, this was a whole lot easier than it should have been. You’re getting sloppy Calista O’Brien.” It wasn’t a deep voice, just a normal one; it was the man who had been chasing us.

Except he wasn’t a man, he was a boy who looked like he was our age.

I took the opportunity to study his features. He had a pointed chin and dark eyes and hair, but the most noticeable was his nose. It was long. An image of a raven came to my mind, that’s what he looked like.

“Elle, I need you to trust me.”

“The last time you said that I ended up in your car and you almost killed me.”

“We’re going to jump.”

“What?!”

“We’re going to jump on the count of three.

One.

Two.

Three.”

I jumped. I always wondered what it would be like to be a bird. Turns out it’s not enjoyable in the slightest.

I could see the cliff above me as I fell.

Then I realized that Cal hadn’t jumped.

OoOOoh, dun dun dun!
