”Cal, really.” I said, nervously. “I can HELP.” She sounded forceful now. Her chestnut skin was aglow in the illumination of the streetlights. “Look, um,“

“Elle Medina.” She muttered. “Let me help. Trust me.” “H-h-how do you kn-n-now my name?” I stammered. “I know everyone.” “OKAY! OKAY! YOU CAN HELP! If you’ll stop FREAKING ME OUT!” I announced. Her mouth twitched into the smallest smile. “First of all, you can call me Cal, or Calista.” She informed me. “Oh...kay?” “And second, Cassia Sierra is just east of SCA.” “Her name’s Cassia Tailor.” Cal, well, Calista, was sort of frustrating. “Well, we think she might be adopted. Because she was born to be of this legendary bloodline, it’s only natural that she’d be put up for adoption. For her own good.”

Cassia

I woke up with a start. I was lying against a tree, near a dangerously high cliff. “AAH! WHERE AM I?” I screamed. “Shh, relax. It’s me, Josh.”

Ah, sweet relaxation. Just the Sound of his voice and the sense of presence calmed me down. “Well, what are we going to eat!? How long have we been here? Did I REALLY, like, fall asleep?” I had so many questions, doubting that Josh would answer them all.

“We’re going back now.” He began, hoisting me up on a horse that I was SURE hadn’t been there five minutes ago. “Also, we’ve been here around 9 hours, and yeah, you fell asleep.” Oh! he DID answer all three! “Walk on, Sierra.” Josh commanded the saddle-less horse. “So, am I or am I Not a Sierra?” I asked. “Sorry, but your horse’s name reminded me of the subject.” “Well, what else are we trying to figure out, Cassia?” He snapped. “Sorry.” I replied. His unusually harsh tone had surprised me. Abruptly, Sierra stopped. “Why’d ya stop, girl?” I asked. I then realized. We weren’t the only ones on this path. Josh yelled SOMETHING, and the same tall, tanned girl who’d captured me rode up. “TRAITOR!”

Elle

Cal’s Volkswagen Bug was a little cramped, but we could manage. I’d fully inspected the vehicle before entring, just to make sure that she wasn’t tricking me or anything. “So, the cliff.“ Calista announced. “WHAT cliff?” I demanded, sitting on my hands. “Oh, the boy who saved her, Josh, uh...”

“WHAT? Cassia could be in danger here, and you keep stopping!” I shrieked. “I’m going to pull over if you keep yelling at me.” Cal warned. “Anyways, he can’t be trusted. He always takes people to that cliff. A little bit after they ride down the path, he calls the Shadows. They then attempt to destroy any prisoners.” ”WAIT WHAT?”

“That’s it. I’m pulling over.“

“No, no, I’m sorry. I’ll stop.” “Anyways, we’ve got to get to her before anything worse happens.”

Livia

( i DID just introduce a new character...sry)

“Joslyn!“ Joslyn stepped in front of me. I tipped my notebook. “Yes, Livia?“

“Josh’ll be back any minute now. He wants us to ‘fly the banner’, whatever that means.” Joslyn rolled her eyes. “DUMMY.” She moaned. “Raise the school flag, DUMMY.”

She overdid the ”Dummy”. Aiden shoved Joslyn aside. He and Cayla strode forward. “Get OUT of my chair.” Cayla demanded. I slid out of the wooden armchair. “PEOPLE! JOSH IS (PROBABLY) GOING TO BE BACK SOON!” She blared like a siren. “And you know that because?” Harper, or, Spaz, shouted Out. “Because. I just rode back from there.”

Arianna

(I needed a short part to introduce Ari...she’ll become important in s2)

Holli stared at me. “No use. Lacy’s cell is either out of battery or service.” “And why, again, are we calling Lacy?” *knock knock*

“Come in!” I screeched. Plugging her ears, Everly, pulling Lacy, came in. “Keep it down, Ari! The school’s on high alert.”
