Hey guys! First of all, Happy New Year!
Anyways, I’m having a bit of a doll dilemma right now. So I currently have a total of 6 dolls right now (pictured below). When I bought my CYO doll about 3 years ago, I said that she was going to be my last doll. However, the new Girl of the Year Corinne just came out and she is absolutely STUNNING from the pictures I’ve seen. I am almost 25 years old and I want to become an adult collector. However, I am afraid that I won’t have enough space if I keep getting any more dolls. I keep telling myself that I don’t need Corinne but every time I see her, I want her even more! What should I do? I am also nervous about doll collecting at my age which is another reason I’m afraid to get any more dolls.
If you really want to display her, I’d get her. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with collecting dolls as an adult, nothing. I’m not too sure what your space looks like, so I don’t have that many tips. However, if you really want her, I’m sure you’d be able to make it work somehow.
This comment is from "mom" - Only buy what you really really love. You probably won't have the space to enjoy displaying 200 dolls. But if you stick with "a few" really special dolls that you love, then you will be able to enjoy them much more. And don't forget to take the time to display them in fun ways. That's the best part of collecting. Not just sticking them on a shelf. My personal favorite idea for "small/medium" collections is to take a display space and change the scene and clothes each month. Then you can have a theme going to look at for a while, but it doesn't get old and tired. And you have a few weeks to really enjoy it. Or you could change it quarterly with the seasons. I'm thinking a space maybe 3-4 feet wide.
my mom is in her 40's and she collects ag dolls and so does my near-80-year-old grandma! nobody says boo!
