Who do you think is better? Cecile or Marie-Grace? For those of you who haven't read Cecile and Marie-Grace books, I will give you some information about them. And for those of you who have read their books, vote below! (Way below!)

Cecile Rey is a colored girl from a wealthy family in New Orleans in 1853. She has many privlegis, such as a private tutor, a maid to help her get dressed, a cook to make food for her family, a fine carriage, and private singing lessons (which is how she met Marie-Grace) in which she is very bad at. She is much better at poetry and acting. Her dream is to become an actress. When her friend Marie-Grace discovers a baby, she and Marie-Grace begin to volunteer at the orphanage where they take the baby. Cecile realizes how many people are in a very bad situation because many of the children there have lost their parents to a yellow fever epidemic sweeping the city. When her brother Armand (who has recently returned from Paris) catches the yellow fever, she realizes how bad the epidemic is. When the epidemic ends, there is going to be a performance to celebrate. She decides to write a poem to perform for the children at the orphanage who lost their parents to the epidemic. Her performance makes the children so happy.

Marie-Grace Gardner has recently returned to New Orleans after many years in different places with her father. Her mother died many years ago along with her younger brother. She and her father are not wealthy, but they get by enough to pay their housekeeper and for Marie-Grace to attend private singing lessons with the same person as Cecile (that is how they meet, Cecile is singing terribly and Marie-Grace hears). Marie-Grace is responsible and is allowed to walk to the marketplace with only her shaggy dog, Argos. When she discovers a baby outside her doorstep, she takes him to the local orphanage to keep him safe from a slave catcher. There, she meets several children and they call her Marie the Great because she plays with them on the days she volunteers. She is a very good singer, so when her uncle marries her singing teacher, they ask her to sing.
