So I was looking at @BookFAN's post about her newest AG books when some people started to talk about the AG Mystery books. Now I have heard of them, but I have never read them. They sound so good! I'm thinking about going to my local library soon, do you guys have any suggestions on which Mystery books I should read first? Thank you! :)

Some of our personal favorites are:
The Thief in the Theater (Kit)
Clues in the Shadows (Molly)
The Cry of the Loon (Samantha)
and The Puzzle of the Paper Daughter (Julie)
My most favorite mysteries were The Cry of the Loon (Samantha, first mystery ever read), Danger at the Zoo (Kit), The Crystal Ball (Rebecca), The Finders-Keepers Rule (Maryellen), The Runaway Friend (Kirsten), The Silver Guitar (Julie), The Lady's Slipper Melody). I can't decide which Caroline or Molly mystery I love; all were great!
Here is a list of mysteries I have not yet read, but would love to:
Danger in Paris: A Samantha Mystery
The Showstopper: A Rebecca Mystery
The Haunted Opera: A Marie-Grace Mystery
Intruders at Rivermead Manor: A Kity Mystery
Before there were the American Girl historical mysteries, American Girl previously had a mystery series called History Mystery. Some of the books cover a time period already covered by a historical character, while others are not yet covered, including the 1600's and Jamestown colony. I have only read one: The Mystery of the Dark Tower, which covered Claudie's time period: The Harlem Renaissance. I also recommend Gangsters at the Grand Atlantic (which deals with mobsters), Under Copp's Hill (revolving around an Italian-American immigrant family in the North End of Boston) , and Voices at Whisper Bend.
All right, the mystery books are my favorites so I’ve got a few recommendations. I think some of the older ones are slightly better than the Beforever ones, but it’s been ages since I’ve been to the library so I’m mostly going off of my personal book collection. You’ve seen me recommend Cécile and the cameo necklace, and I think it’s my favorite AG book, but I’m slightly Marie-Grace and Cécile biased. Marie-Grace has two other mystery books that are great. Peril at King’s Creek (Felicity Mystery) is SO BEAUTIFULLY written. Shadows on Society Hill (Addy) has a really great mystery to it, and I HIGHLY doubt you’ll be able to solve it before the answers are revealed to you. All of Caroline’s are absolutely phenomenal. The Puzzle of the Paper Daughter (Julie) is about a doll collector, which I think all of us here can appreciate, but it’s also such a great look into history. The Crystal Ball (Rebecca) is another book with a significant look into history. I could go on and on… basically, they’re all great! I recommend looking for, though, the History Mystery series. It’s a very much forgotten series that AG did in the early 2000s and the reason for my love-hate relationship with Claudie. Each book focused on a different girl in not-very-typical-for-AG situations (One girl was kidnapped and taken as an indentured servant!) It’s darker than the regular AG books and intended for ages 10+, but they are my absolute favorite Ag books ever. And I mean ever. I need to just make a post about them because some of the stories are absolutely wild. one is kind of like Sarah Plain and Tall, but gone horribly wrong. (AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON GANGSTERS AT THE GRAND ATLANTIC.)
I haven’t read most of the mysteries in years, since there’s so many! Should I do a list of all of them?
The first mystery book I read was kit danger at the zoo! It was good and easy to understand I think. I recommend it! 😊
It would take too long to list all my favorites, and I have to leave soon, so just try whatever.
