So hey. I was going on a "witch hunt" for new dolls. Ever After high dolls, WINX dolls , monster high dolls etc. Now if we look at the prices . . . it's actually pretty high.
Stella From WINX Club as an example :
She's...expensive now I don't know if its because the dolls are "old" or like retired I'm not sure. But its pretty expensive.
The dolls are pretty expensive for a smaller sized dolls.
You can search up on google for more information.
Continuing, American girl dolls are expensive. Not everyone can afford it. The quality of the dolls are fine, but there are some red flags to the products. Anyhow, is it expensive? What do you think.
My opinion :
They're expensive, but compared to smaller sized dolls I guess it's not that high? Since the size of the WINX dolls is smaller than the AG dolls. However, not everyone can even afford American Girl dolls. You can buy food for $115 dollars. And I consider it expensive, now how about the WINX dolls. I think its over priced, but I can't really have a say since I don't know if the price is high because its retried but if it were retired they wouldn't have it as such a high price, right?
The Barbie Dolls that are sold in target/ebay are around 14-30. Any thoughts on this?
I think the Winx doll was expensive because it was vintage. They don't make them anymore, right? so vintage stuff can go for A LOT
AG dolls are higher quality than most other 18 dolls. Especially their wigs. It takes a lot more to destroy an AG wig than an OG or Mylife. I personally like the AG molds much better than other brands most of the time - there are a couple of Madame Alexanders that I think are really pretty, but the doll quality isn't the same. And compared to many other toys , AG isn't expensive at all. How much is an Xbox?? And think of it this way - a kid really could save $10 per month and in a year's time buy a doll new. Or if they are savvy, they can pay half of that on e-bay (or better if they really hunt hard and aren't particular about the specific doll.)
I do believe that American Girl dolls are expensive. The Winx doll is only listed as $400 because it is discontinued, that happens with many dolls. It is not her actual price, it is someone selling her online for an insane price hoping that someone will be stupid enough to buy her at that price, so they can make a ton of money. For example, Monster High dolls I had when I was in elementary school can be found for sale online for much more than the original price, sometimes they’re even over $100! I know my Monster High Ghoul Talk two-pack I got at K mart more seven bucks when I was in third grade never cost $160! But there is a listing for that. It is just a thing with the doll community. When they do not make a doll anymore, many people will sell them for much more money than they’re worth online, especially if there was something about the doll that makes it rarer. This even happens with new dolls! A an example of this is scalpers. For example, the most recent Monster High limited edition doll released around a week ago. Her official price was $65. But many people called scalpers bought this doll (who sold out in minutes) for the purpose of immediately listing her on eBay for over $200!
Back to AG, the quality is better than the other brands, but in my opinion it definitely is not worth THAT much more. I wish they had left the prices at $98 when they temporarily lowered them. I think it was a more reasonable price. But at the same time, the high price point is part of what makes them more treasured and gives them their heirloom status. Parents pass down these dolls to their kids. Part of the reason for that is their quality, but I believe the price plays into that too. Many kids only have one or two due to their price. Having one or two makes you value the doll(s) more, so they will grow up and instead of just selling them or donating them, they’re so treasured that they pass them on instead. If they were not expensive, kids would have plenty of AG dolls, as if they were Barbies. Often times kids usually do not treasure Barbies like that at all. So yeah, I believe they are too expensive but it honestly would not feel like American Girl if they were not. I would be really happy if they brought the price back down to $98 though! :)
I think that american girl dolls are expensive but really good quality and more special than other doll brands aleast for me when I get a new amercain girl doll doll it always feels really special more than other items like if I got a our genoratin doll I wouldnt be as excited but maybe that’s because me and my mom have found them kind of creepy looking but that’s just me also You can pass down the doll‘s for a long time like I have my moms three dolls she had as a kid and other fading face paint and loose limbs they are still amazing quality.
I think AG dolls are incredibly over priced compared to other 18in doll lines, i've been able to buy a OG doll for $18. Like, yeeeeeesh, that makes AG expensive. One time before I had an AG doll we went to the AGP CO, and my mom said, these are expensive, the lady heard us and said, it's because they are very high quality. And... now I'm like, whaaaat, if I even scrape my hoodie zipper on the dolls, they get a annoying white scratch, I have to be so delicate with them! But that are still goooood quality.
Hm. You make an interesting point. The original dolls came with a lot more history than, per say, truly me’s, because they added educational value And encouragement to read.
What's Ever After High and Winx dolls?
