Mk so... I'm going to tell you a very cringey story from 2nd Grade related to AG. Which is why this post is in "General AG Chat" rather than "Off Topic".
Ok sooooooooo-
One day my friend Tatum and I were talking about Josefina & how to pronounce her name. She pronounced it like Josefina, while I pronounced it like Hosefina. Hosefina is the correct pronunciation, but I decided to just pronounce like Josefina for her to stop bothering me about it.
So one day, around a week later, this girl who was in my class brought this book about AG over. It was an AG encyclopedia. It was a group of around 10, including Tatum and I, surrounding the girl who brought the AG encyclopedia over. As we got to the page about Josefina, I said "Oh yay Josefina!" (Pronounced JO-SEF-INA rather than HOS-EF-INA).
So then all the girls snapped back at me saying "IT'S HOSEFINA!" And I looked at Tatum like: -_-
So yeah... Moral of the story is to listen to yourself. That's all.
Sorry if this story doesn't make sense...
Pronunciation debates are always tricky. It is funny how these small things stick with us from childhood. I can relate to wanting to avoid a conversation about it and just going along with a different pronunciation.
