Here is the second of part of the historical characters in their futures with the other ten historical characters. Again, this will be similar to a Dear America epilogue. However, I always preferred American Girl and have only read a few of the Dear America series (My most favorite ones are The Fences Between Us which is written by Nanea's author Kirby Larson, Hear My Sorrow, and Mirror Mirror on the Wall). Dear America always had mature story plots, while American Girl always showcased the innocent side of childhood.
Cecile - became a famous opera singer like her favorite teacher Madamoiselle Oceane, traveled around the world with her older brother Armand (who has became a renowned artist and whom she still is close to) performing in theaters and music halls, also performed several operettas in New Orleans, never lost touch with her childhood friend Marie-Grace who would always go to the theater to watch her perform and pay a little visit backstage
Marie-Grace - worked and lived in the orphanage as a teacher taking care of many orphans, a well-loved mother figure to the children working alongside the nuns, can finally speak French fluently, helped take in many orphans whose parents were killed during the Civil War, writes letters to her best friend Cecile, would buy a ticket to every single performance that Cecile is in and would visit with her friend backstage to have a little chat
Caroline - finally became captain of her own ship when her father built a sloop for her just like how he did with Caroline's Cousin Oliver, celebrated with her family, friends, and neighbors in Sackets Harbor when America won the War of 1812, never lost her love of fishing in the summertime and ice skating in the wintertime, took over her father's' shipyard and supplied the Navy during the Civil War, lived by her beloved Lake Ontario for the rest of her life
Maryellen - enjoyed the teenage life dancing to rock'n'roll music and sock hops, never lost interest in rocket science so became a rocket scientist working at Cape Canaveral, also continued to be interested in medicine because of her experiences with polio as a little girl and worked in the labs of medical centers, became an artist in old age where she hosted an art exhibition where her artworks were in the press
Melody - never lost her love of music and became a music teacher at a music academy teaching singing and piano (like Big Momma) to people of different ages, continued to fight for justice and equality and was happy when segregation ended all over the United States, enjoyed listening to her brother Dwayne even after he broke away from the Three Ravens and became a solo singer, still loved flowers and grown her own garden at her home with fruits, flowers, and vegetables
Nanea - celebrated with her ohana and friends when the Allies won the war, volunteered for the USO and helped tons of soldiers with mental health issues with the help of Mele, in her teenage years was a hula dance and continued the hula tradition in her family, became a schoolteacher like her favorite teacher Miss Smith but also taught hula part-time, throughout her life continued to entertain tourists to Hawaii
Courtney - her video game character Crystal Starshooter became a sensation among girls in the 2000's decade, was asked to create more video games for girls by a famous video game corporation, worked as a video game designer where her video games were full of kid-friendly fun and adventures, all these video games were also sold at her stepfather Mike's store, became an activist helping people afflicted with HIV and AIDS
Claudie - wrote stories for both children and adults in her beloved Harlem, published a storybook of the same folktales her maternal grandmother in Georgia told her about enslaved people to keep these stories alive for other people, also became a playwright where she wrote many plays full of fun and adventure, the Wells family and all the boarders were little affected by the Great Depression, supported the Civil Rights Movement when she was middle-aged
Isabel - continued to design new clothes even into her teens with a strong fashion sense, decided to became a fashionista and studied fashion design in college, worked for a luxury brand, designed and created lots of dresses, shirts, pants, shoes, and accessories, used tons of pink, glitter, and flowery designs on her outfits and accessories, still is close to her twin sister Nicki whom she would listen to music and watch movies from the 1990's out of nostalgia
Nicki - was an athlete participating in numerous skateboarding championships, even performed at the Olympics, after retiring from skateboarding, became a songwriter and worked with numerous artists, musicians, and singers, some of her songs made it in the Billboard Hot 100, still loves to spend time with Isabel and the two sisters would sit down and watch films and listen to popular songs to relive their childhood memories
Note:
Again I look at their hobbies and desires to decide on their futures. When Kip and Sarah remarked to Courtney how making a video game is difficult and how Courtney created a video game character Crystal Starshooter, I decided Courtney should become a video game designer especially since we are right now in the age of Technological Revolution. I know Caroline has always wanted to be captain of the ship and became a bit envious when Cousin Oliver was given his own ship in Meet Caroline so I imagined she will get her own ship especially since she got a skiff of her own. Since Claudie helped create a play that saved her boardinghouse and loved to concoct stories with the three puppets to her younger brother Jody I imagine she would be a writer and a playwright as an adult.
It’s an interesting article and rich in information. Thanks for sharing it.
