I was looking at my historical character’s poster that I got a few years ago, and I noticed that most of the years that these dolls stories take place ends in four. ( Nanea, Courtney, and Claudie are the only ones I could find that do not match up with my observation) I‘m pretty sure that, unless a character‘s story takes place in a year where a huge historical event takes place (for example, attack on Pearl Harbor, the Challenger explosion) The original 6 all had stories that took place in a year ending in 4, so I assume Ag just went with a year ending in four for the rest of the characters, unless it would be historically inaccurate.

Interesting observation! It seems like American Girl might have a pattern of choosing years ending in four for their historical characters' stories, except for a few exceptions tied to major historical events. reliable plumbing services in Norwalk CT
Caroline, too. She was born in 1812, for the precise reason you stated. My guess, which is just that, is that a date ending in a 4 was close to the center of the decade, but not exactly, so it didn't feel like a cliché date. Retro Bowl College

And Caroline. She was 1812, exactly for the reason you gave. My guess, which is just a guess, is that ending in a 4 was close to the middle of the decade, but not exactly so it seemed less like a cliché date.
I was wondering about that too!
