I have previously wrote and imagined the futures of the Girl of the Years and the historicals, except for McKenna and Lila. Now I'm about to do the same with the best friend characters in the order in which their dolls debuted: Nellie, Elizabeth, Emily, Ivy, and Ruthie (one of the my favorites, hence the name RuthieFairyFan). It will once again be similar to the Dear America epilogues like what I did with the futures of the historicals Parts 1 and 2.
Nellie - finally fulfilled her deceased mother's promise of taking care of Bridget and Jenny and working hard and pursued her dream of becoming a teacher, worked at the settlement house where Samantha volunteers and teaches the orphans and students practical things such as arithmetic, reading, and writing, always showed support for the worker's strikes all around New York City, during the Great Depression sympathized with tons of orphans whose parents have lost their jobs and helped care for them alongside Samantha, remained close to Samantha and her family all their lives
Elizabeth - after the end of the American Revolution moved up north to Canada in the Quebec region where there were land available for Loyalists when George Washington decided to remove all Loyalists from the United States and where she and Annabelle and her mother were reunited with her father, continued to keep in touch with Felicity, however the two friends lost contact during the War of 1812, several years after the War of 1812 ended Felicity and Elizabeth finally met in person in years and remained friends for life
Emily - returned to England after the war ended when she said goodbye to Molly and the McIntire family and her Aunt Primrose, was reunited with her parents and her Gramps and resettled to her life in London where she discovered so much has changed because of the war, came back to Jefferson, Illinois to attend college where she studied mathematics and reunited with Molly, Linda, and Susan, decided to permanently move to America and become a teacher but would always go to England for a visit, was in England when Queen Elizabeth II was coronated and when Prince Charles was born
Ivy - became a competitive gymnast where she participated in several gymnastics tournament and even performed in the Olympics, after retiring became a gymnastics coach for young girls, helped tons of girls develop gymnastics skills and offered assistance in uneven bars, vaulting, and walking the beam, also inherited Gung Gung and Po Po's restaurant The Happy Panda along with the whole family, still held tightly to her beloved Chinese traditions and celebrated family reunions and Chinese New Year at the Happy Panda, remained in contact with her best friend Julie
Ruthie - remained friends with Kit all their lives, continued to be interested in fairy tales and princesses, in the late 1930's went with Kit and Stirling to see fairy films such as Disney's first film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Wizard of Oz with Judy Garland, helped the war effort during World War Two in which she became a nurse volunteering for the Red Cross, after the war became a children's author writing about princesses, fairies, witches, and magical animals until old age, her stories were published in books and children's magazines and were best-selling
That is it for all the five Best Friend characters. I might want to do the comtemporary characters including the World By Us characters next.
Note:
In Nellie's Promise, Nellie told Miss Brennan, the woman who runs the Settlement House where she and her sisters used to go to, that she would like to be a teacher just like her. It appeared to us that Nellie had been inspired by Miss Brennan to be a teacher (this and also because of Uncle Mike's return that she needs to go find work). Nellie enjoys learning practical things instead of fancing things like ballet. I knew Nellie should become a teacher at a settlement house teaching children practical things.
I also read the Dear Canada series ( which are exactly similar to the Dear America series except they deal with Canadian history) One of the books I read about is called With Nothing But Our Courage which focused on Loyalist girl whose family forced out of America after the Revolutionary War. I learned that some Loyalists ecaped to Canada to Quebec where Loyalists could make a living, so I decided Elizabeth and the Cole Family could relocate to Canada after the war.
I know Emily was better at multiplication than Molly so I was thinking she could be a math teacher. She helped Molly figure out 7 X 8 is 56 by reminding her about 5, 6, 7, 8 in order. That is exactly how my third grade teacher would tell us when we had to find the answer to 7X8. So I was thinking she could become a teacher.
I can tell in Good Luck Ivy that Ivy is very passionated with her gymnastics. So I decided she would be an athlete as a teenager and young adult (like her idol Olga Korbut) and a gymnastics coach in later life like McKenna was to Lila.
Ruthie loves to read books about fairy tales. In the 1930's, the Wizard of Oz (1939) and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) were released during the Depression. I can already picture Ruthie, Kit, and Stirling going to the theater to watch them much to Ruthie's delight. She would still love fairy tales as an adult (like I do) so I was thinking she could be a writer on children's fantasy books.
